July 1 – August 28, 2018

Russian Academic Youth Theater is about to host the 18th annual fixture of Summer Ballet Seasons 2018.

When repertory theaters go off-season, a unique ballet marathon starts on Moscow's cultural map. Every day over two months, the RAMT stage will be home to masterpieces of global ballet art. This includes three ballets by Pyotr Tchaikovsky – Swan Lake (traditionally opening and completing the Seasons), The Sleeping Beauty and The Nutcracker, as well as Giselle by Adolphe Adam, Don Quixote by Ludwig Minkus, Romeo and Juliet and Cinderella by Sergei Prokofiev, etc.

These will be shown in classical versions by Russia's top choreographers – Marius Petipa, Vasili Vainonen, Leonid Lavrovsky, as well as in modern choreography reserving the classical basis. This concentration of world's best masterpieces is the crown jewel of this city's summer cultural life!

Summer Ballet Seasons feature leading choreographic troupes with repertory based on ballet classics.

Classical ballet theatre "ART-da" was founded in 2005 under the direction of Valentin Grishenko. Necessity in a young and perspective theatre with the potential both in classical and contemporary choreography was the reason of this troupe creation. "Talent and devotion to the classical Russian ballet traditions" is the motto and the main goal of this theatre. One of the principles is a continual search of new form in choreograph, discovering new directions in choreographic art.
In 1988 the USSR's first private ballet troupe was founded, the Moscow City Ballet (MCB), known in Russia as Smirnov-Golovanov Theater of Classical Ballet. It's founder and permanent leader for 25 years was Victor Smirnov-Golovanov, a former soloist and choreographer of the Bolshoi Theater, one of the the choreographers of the famous ballet "Anna Karenina" (together with M. Plisetskaya and N.Rizhenko), founder of the genre of teleballet, the author of the first performance of "The Masquerade" to the music of A. Khachaturian.
